OFFICIAL RULES

Hackathon:TTX Las Vegas 2017 is a skill contest (the “Contest”) that will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from June 24, 2017 to June 25, 2017 (the “Contest Period”). 

  1. ELIGIBILITY
    • The Contest is sponsored by Sabre GLBL Inc., a Delaware corporation, with its principal place of business at 3150 Sabre Drive, Southlake, TX 76092 (“Sabre“).
    • THE CONTEST IS OPEN TO PARTICIPANTS WORLDWIDE, EXCEPT THAT THE CONTEST IS NOT OPEN TO RESIDENTS OF BRAZIL, ITALY, MEXICO, NETHERLANDS, QUEBEC, AND RUSSIA, AS WELL AS RESIDENTS OF COUNTRIES SUBJECT TO U.S. EMBARGOES OR SANCTIONS, INCLUDING CUBA, IRAN, MYANMAR (BURMA), NORTH KOREA, SUDAN, AND SYRIA. THE CONTEST IS VOID WHERE RESTRICTED BY, WITHOUT LIMITATION, FILING OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS, EXPORT CONTROLS, OR WHERE OTHERWISE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.
    • By entering the Contest, you accept sole responsibility for determining whether your participation is legal in any jurisdiction that applies to you.
    • Participants must be of the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry.
    • Employees, directors, and agents of Sabre, its licensees, their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents and all of their parents and subsidiary companies and the immediate family or members of their same households (whether related or not) of such employees and directors are not eligible for entry.
    • By entering, each participant agrees to these Official Rules, and to the decisions of the judges and Sabre, which are final and binding in all respects.
  • ENTRY
    • NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THE CONTEST. To enter the Contest, go to https://www.sabretravelnetwork.com/ttx/hackttx/ (the “Web Site”) from April 4, 2017 – June 23, 2017 (the “Registration Period”), then follow the on-screen instructions to complete and submit a registration form for the
    • Participants may submit no more than one registration form per individual.
  • CHALLENGES
    • During the Contest Period, registered participants shall create and develop software code (an “Application”) that responds to the following:
    • Contest participants may compete in teams.
    • All coding for the Application must take place during the Contest Period using source code developed on-site by participants. Participants must incorporate at least one Sabre API into the Application.    Any additional requirements concerning Applications will be provided during the Contest Period.
  • WINNER SELECTION
    • Prize-winning Applications will be selected by a process in which a panel of judges will evaluate each Application based on the following criteria:
      • Technical Quality: Is the Application a working prototype that does not crash? – 25%
      • Design: Is the Application polished, visually appealing and easy to use? - 25%
      • Potential: Does the idea have potential to reinvent travel? - 25%
      • Originality: Is the Application unique and/or innovative? – 25%
    • All participants are subject to verification, including without limitation, verification of eligibility, compliance with these Official Rules and completion of release forms (described below).
    • Participants agree that Sabre has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this Contest and that all decisions of Sabre are final and binding.
  • PRIZE
    • Sabre or its sponsors may award various participants a prize (each, a “Prize”). Prizes will be awarded entirely on the basis of skill and not by chance.  Further details around the Prizes can be found at the following website: sabretravelnetwork.com/ttx/hackttx/

 

  • Cash Prizes will be awarded in the form of a check, or equivalent instrument. No assignment, transfer, cash redemption or substitution of a Prize is permitted, except in Sabre’s sole discretion.  Sabre reserves the right to substitute a Prize of comparable value should a particular Prize become unavailable for any reason.
  • ANY AND ALL EXPENSES NOT SPECIFIED ARE SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRIZE WINNER. All airfare, lodging, meals, gratuities, and other expenses, associated with a Prize are the Prize winner’s sole responsibility.
  • Upon receipt of a Prize, the winner may incur income or other tax liability, and is responsible for payment of any and all applicable taxes on the Prize, and for any other expenses related to its use not already specified.
  • Sabre makes no representations or warranties concerning the Prize awarded. Any unclaimed Prizes will not be awarded. Restrictions, conditions, and limitations apply. Sabre will not replace any lost or stolen Prize items.
  • To the extent a participant and Winner consist of a team, all prizes or any Prize components will be awarded to the winning team as a whole and not to each individual member of a winning team. Sabre is not responsible for any disputes among team members concerning Prize or Prize components.
  • PUBLICITY
    • The winning participants agree to provide Sabre with any and all publicity requests reasonably requested by Sabre, including but not limited to the following:
      • References: Participant will permit Sabre to identify participant as a winner of the Contest, such as identifying participant in general promotional literature with or without a visual. Participant agrees that Sabre can also use the team name (where applicable), photograph, a description of the Application along with any background information about participant that participant is willing to disclose;
      • Public Quotation and Imagery: Participant will provide Sabre with at least one public quote on the Contest and the Application and one image for use in printed or online promotion by Sabre;
      • Joint Press and Media Activities: Participant agrees (a) to participate in press releases pre-approved by participant and (b) to assist Sabre with selected interviews with third parties covering the Contest. Participant has complete control with respect to the participant content shared with the media and may decline to provide content in cases where the content may be considered by participant to be confidential or not suitable for public consumption.
    • The winning participants hereby waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product that may be created in connection with the foregoing. In addition, the winning participants hereby waive all claims for payment for such use.
  • GENERAL CONDITIONS
    • To claim a Prize, a winner may be asked to complete, execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and where lawful, a Publicity Release within twenty (20) days of notification of status as Prize winner.
    • If applicable, a check will be mailed to the winners within thirty (30) days of receipt of documents. Failure to return documents timely, or return of the Prize notification as non-deliverable, may result in the winner’s disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected.
    • BY ACCEPTING A PRIZE, THE PARTICIPANT AGREES TO RELEASE, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS SABRE, ITS LICENSEES, THEIR PARENTS, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND TO PERSON, EXCLUDING DEATH AND PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF SABRE, ARISING IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM ACCEPTANCE, USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE, PARTICIPATION IN ANY PROMOTION RELATED ACTIVITY, OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST.
    • Sabre reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify or to remove from the Contest any individual or team it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or Web Site; to be acting in violation of the Official Rules; or to be acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
    • The interpretation of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.  Any disputes arising under, or related to, the Contest must be brought in the courts of Tarrant County, Texas.
  • LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
    • Sabre is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Web Site users, tampering, hacking, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest and assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, effect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to the web site.
    • Sabre is not responsible for damage to participants’ or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this Contest, or downloading materials from or use of the Web Site.
    • If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned by reason of infection by computer virus, worms, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes Sabre which, in the sole opinion of Sabre, could corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, Sabre reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Internet portion of this Contest and, if applicable, select the winner from eligible entries received prior to the action taken.
    • IN NO EVENT WILL SABRE, ITS LICENSEES, THEIR PARENTS, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS, BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THIS CONTEST, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, WHETHER ARISING OUT OF TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL OR EQUITABLE THEORY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, EVERYTHING PROVIDED TO THE PARTICIPANT IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, OF ANY NATURE IN RESPECT OF THE PRIZE, WHETHER IN RESPECT TO FITNESS FOR PURPOSE, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, DESCRIPTION OR NATURE OF THE PRIZE OR OTHERWISE.
    • EACH PARTICIPANT ACKNOWLEDGES THAT, EXCEPT AS SET FORTH HEREIN, SABRE HAS NOT MADE AND DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION OR GUARANTEE, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, RELATED TO THE CONTEST OR ANY PRIZE.
    • NOTHING IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES ACTS IN ANYWAY TO EXCLUDE OR LIMIT’S SABRE’S LIABILITY FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY SABRE’S NEGLIGENCE.
